Campus is Dedicated as San Diego Chargers Courage House
June 9, 2012 (San Marcos, CA) - On Friday, June 8, 2012 Child Abuse Prevention leader Casa de Amparo held a Grand Opening Ceremony for the organization’s new Casa Kids Campus in the Twin Oaks Valley area of San Marcos. “It took 14 years to reach this point,” said Master of Ceremonies and Board President Mark Allyn in addressing the group of over 400 guests, “But seeing it today, I think you can all agree it was worth it!”
June 8, 2012 (San Marcos, CA) - At the Grand Opening of the Casa Kids Campus in San Marcos, James Collins, Head Athletic Coach for San Diego Chargers and Paul Mittermeier, Director of Communications for the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation dedicated the campus as the San Diego Chargers Courage House, the 22nd Courage House in the National Football League's Ed Block Courage House Network dedicated to the prevention of child abuse.

October 15, 2011 (San Marcos, CA) - September 21, 2011 marked a major milestone in the construction of Casa de Amparo’s new Casa Kids Campus in San Marcos-- placement of the highest beam at the top of The Children’s Services Center, the central building in this 11.4 acre campus that also includes three residential cottages.
March 23, 2011 (Oceanside, CA) – In television’s popular Amazing Race, contestants vie for fame and fortune, but on Saturday, March 19th, the winnings went to abused children in the care of Casa de Amparo. Established in 1978, the local nonprofit is a leader in the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect in San Diego County.
The Amazing Race for Casa Kids was the top money-maker at Casa de Amparo’s annual Crystal Ball Gala that took place last October. Five teams of four bid $5,000 each to take part in the race.
November 18, 2010 (Oceanside, CA) – On Tuesday, November 16, Casa de Amparo held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new “Casa Kids Campus” on 11.4 acres in Twin Oaks Valley adjacent to San Marcos. Over 180 attended. Speakers included Nick Macchione, Director, San Diego County Health and Human Services, who addressed Casa de Amparo’s long record in successfully treating and preventing child abuse and neglect and the need for government and private collaboration to assure that these children continue to have the resources needed to end cycles of abuse.
August 20, 2010 (Oceanside, CA) - Casa de Amparo has served abused, neglected and at-risk children in San Diego since 1978, but deteriorating facilities are getting in the way of program and service enhancements to expand our capacity to serve more children, youth and families.
Central to the plan is a new “Casa Kids Campus” to be built on 11.4 acres in Twin Oaks Valley adjacent to San Marcos. The new campus is the Phase II of a $16M project that also included the completion of Phase I--the Family Services and Hayward Child Development Center in 2007. Wells Fargo Bank has offered a $4 million loan if Casa can match funds and has extended their original July 1 deadline.

April 23, 2010 (Del Mar, CA) - On Sunday, April 18th over 300 food and wine lovers from across San Diego County gathered at the Hilton Del Mar with 19 chefs from 17 of Del Mar’s finest restaurants to raise funds for Casa de Amparo and child abuse prevention at the 14th Annual Meet the Chefs.
Young’s Market Company poured a wide selected of premium wines to complement each of the chefs’ signature dishes which were cooked onsite for guests to sample and enjoy.
