The Children's Shelter
Casa de Amparo provides temporary shelter, food, and overall care for children who have been removed from their homes as a result of abuse or neglect. Whether a child is with us for one day or several months before being placed in a permanent setting, our staff and volunteers provide loving attention, along with a rigorous educational and recreational plan and as many normal child-hood experiences as possible.

With encouragement and support, Casa Kids begin healing, growing, and creating futures full of hope, from the moment they arrive at our Children’s Shelter.

Services

Casa de Amparo provides more than just the basics like food, shelter and clothing. After the initial individualized assessment, the staff formulates a goal-oriented plan to meet each Casa Kid’s unique needs. That plan typically includes:

  • Supervised visitation with supportive family members
  • Counseling/therapeutic activity groups
  • Age- and grade-appropriate schooling
  • Healthy leisure and cultural trips
  • Exercise classes
  • Life skills workshops and courses
  • Healthy nutritional guidance
