April 23, 2010 (Del Mar, CA) - On Sunday, April 18th over 300 food and wine lovers from across San Diego County gathered at the Hilton Del Mar with 19 chefs from 17 of Del Mar’s finest restaurants to raise funds for Casa de Amparo and child abuse prevention at the 14th Annual Meet the Chefs.
Young’s Market Company poured a wide selected of premium wines to complement each of the chefs’ signature dishes which were cooked onsite for guests to sample and enjoy.
Life Technologies led the fund-raising with a contribution of $15,000 as Event Partner. Addressing guests, Hope Spadora, Vice President Global Facilities & Real Estate, said “Life Technologies is all about improving the human condition—not just in our work in biotechnology, but also right here in our community. Celebrity Guest, Jade Cole, international supermodel and former finalist on America’s Top Model presented Live Auction items such as an in-home dinner for 10 prepared by Susan Sbicca of Sbicca and Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille and a Dinner for 8 at Addison at the Grand Del Mar.
DEI Holdings, Inc. and DJO Incorporated were $5000 Signature Chef Partners. $1,500 Sous Chef Partners were Al and Lee Ann Puglisi, Jim and Llyn Mallen, California Bank & Trust, Grant General Contractors, One Source Distributors, Roel Construction, Sony, Morgan Stanley/Smith Barney and Wells Fargo.
