May 19, 2014 (San Marcos, CA) – Nearly 300 food enthusiasts and passionate community members gathered to attend Casa de Amparo’s 18th Annual Meet the Chefs on May 4, 2014 at the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar. The popular fundraiser raised over $100,000, which will directly benefit Casa de Amparo’s programs that treat and prevent child abuse and neglect throughout San Diego County and beyond.
“Meet the Chefs is one of Casa de Amparo’s largest annual events, attracting supporters from all over San Diego County,” said Casa de Amparo Executive Director Tamara Fleck–Myers. “Chefs, donors, volunteers, and staff members combine their resources and talent to orchestrate an extraordinary event that raises awareness and funds to create a community where child abuse and neglect are not tolerated.”
During the poolside event on a sunny Sunday afternoon, guests had the opportunity to sample food from 18 renowned San Diego restaurants, such as porcini dusted seared scallops, grilled lamb chops, veal ravioli, pan–roasted quail breast, orange seafood salad, and other flavorful dishes.
Brookside Winery, Young’s Market Company, and Stone Brewing Co. generously poured premium wines and beers to complement the wide range of gourmet dishes.
Top auction items included a week–long stay in a four–bedroom villa in Nuevo Vallarta, rare and limited edition wine, and dinner packages donated by many of the participating restaurants.
