September 9, 2013 (San Marcos. CA) – The 15th Annual Crystal Ball Gala committee met in the month of August, and will continue to meet throughout September and October to finalize details on one of San Diego’s most elegant events of the year, to be held on Saturday, October 26th. The evening includes a lavish cocktail reception, impressive silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille, and dancing to one of San Diego’s top local bands, Something Simple. Proceeds benefit Casa de Amparo, a nonprofit organization treating and preventing child abuse and neglect throughout San Diego County since 1978.
Held at the exclusive Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe, there will be an exciting line up of silent, super silent, and live auction items, including Christmas in Hawaii, a $10,000 furniture shopping spree, an Alaska fishing trip, a men’s Corum watch, rare wines, and more.
The biggest committee challenge is gathering auction items, according to co-chairs Kayleen Huffman and Judy Keys. “We have to get items for three auctions that take place that night,” says Huffman. “But the auctions raise a lot of the money for Casa Kids, so we work hard to get excellent items,” Keys explains.
ABOUT THE CRYSTAL BALL GALA
In 1999, visionary Casa de Amparo patrons and community members conceived the idea of a gala that would raise substantial funds to help each Casa Kid look into his or her own crystal ball and see a brighter future. All proceeds raised at the Crystal Ball Gala directly benefit Casa de Amparo’s programs and services supporting San Diego children and families affected by or at risk of child abuse or neglect.
