Casa de Amparo hosted its 11th Annual Holiday Drive on Dec. 17. San Marcos Mayor Jim Desmond, City Council members, School Board Members and Kaiser Permanente executives volunteered by wrapping and sorting gifts for Casa Kids who range from prenatal up to 24 years old and have been at risk or affected by child abuse or neglect.

This year’s Crystal Ball raised more than $300,000 for Casa de Amparo, an Oceanside-based nonprofit that helps abused children. The 15th annual Fall event drew 300 guests to the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. The evening’s guest speakers included honorary chairpersons Andrew and Michelle Walker of Serta International, James Collins, San Diego Chargers head athletic trainer and liason to Casa de Amparo Board, executive director Tamara Fleck-Myers, LMFT of Casa de Amparo, and Samantha Webb of Casa de Amparo’s New Directions program for former foster youth.

The 15th Annual Crystal Ball Gala was held Oct. 26 at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club.The Gala included a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille, and dancing to one of San Diego’s top local bands, Something Simple. Proceeds benefit Casa de Amparo, a nonprofit organization treating and preventing child abuse and neglect throughout San Diego County since 1978.
