Fine food and a great cause are on the menu for an annual culinary event featuring some of San Diego’s top chefs. Teaming up to create a foodie’s dream event is Meet the Chefs and non-profit Casa de Amparo where top chefs from across San Diego prepare some of the best dishes the city has to offer.

Casa de Amparo opened its doors for the community to take tours at its nearly two-year old Casa Kids Campus in San Marcos. The Come Home to Casa open house is the first of what the nonprofit hopes to be an annual event for the community to see the work it is doing to treat and prevent child abuse.

The annual Meet the Chefs tastings event returns to Del Mar from 1 to 4 p.m. May 4 at the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar.The annual fundraiser for Casa de Amparo allows ticketholders to sample food items prepared by 18 mostly Del Mar-area chefs, as well as taste wines from Young’s Market Co. and enjoy live music and dancing.

Top area chefs recently toured Casa de Amparo’s Casa Kids Campus in San Marcos, a shelter for abused children, to get inspiration for the dishes they are cooking up for a May 4 fundraiser benefiting the shelter.
In preparation for the 18th annual Meet the Chefs fundraiser for Casa de Amparo, the chefs met at Casa and learned about the nonprofit’s nearly four-decade history treating and preventing child abuse.
